Influenza raged in army and navy camps and caused the U.S. to lose more military personnel to disease than to combat in World War I. DESCRIPTION:Previously a well-received program on the north side of the street was held with audience participation. Due to Covid – 19 restrictions\, this program will very likely be on Facebook Live.  Check social media and other sources as the date comes closer.  \nThe program will briefly tell the history of each building with known stories add color.  For example Peterkort’s Hotel is gone. It became a bowling alley which in turn burned down.  Centenarian Florence Carlson said that her parents met in the dining room of the hotel while others recall fighting the bowling alley fire.
